«إن الله لا يستحيي من الحق، هل على المرأة من غسل إذا هي احتلمت؟ فقال: نعم، إذا رأت الماء»
A verbatim excerpt of the text, forty words at most; the full text is in the edition cited under sources
Summary
A report that Malik transmits from Hisham ibn Urwa from his father, from Zaynab bint Abi Salama (may God be pleased with her), from Umm Salama, the Prophet ﷺ's wife, in the chapter on a woman bathing when she sees in a dream what a man sees: Umm Sulaym, the wife of Abu Talha al-Ansari (may God be pleased with him), came to the Prophet and said that God does not shy from the truth, and asked whether a woman must bathe if she has a wet dream. He said yes, if she sees the water. The editor cites al-Bukhari, Ibn Hibban, Ibn Khuzayma, al-Shafi'i and al-Bayhaqi, and notes Ibn Abd al-Barr's view that the Muwatta transmitters gave it this chain except al-Qa'nabi, who sent it from Hisham from his father; Ibn Shihab sometimes related it from Urwa as a mursal and sometimes from Aisha. 1 2
