Chain of transmission

  1. Malik ibn Anas
  2. Muhammad ibn Shihab al-Zuhri
  3. Salim ibn Abdallah ibn Umar
  4. Abdullah ibn Umar ibn al-Khattab

Summary

The first report in the chapter on ablution after a man kisses his wife. Yahya transmits from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Salim ibn Abdullah from his father Abdullah ibn Umar, who counted a man's kissing and touching his wife with his hand as the "touching" mentioned in the ablution verse; whoever kisses or touches his wife with his hand must perform ablution. The editor notes that Ahmad ibn Isma'il transmitted it from Malik in al-Daraqutni, Abu Mus'ab and Suwayd and al-Shafi'i in al-Bayhaqi, and that Abd al-Razzaq and Ibn Abi Shayba transmitted it through al-Zuhri with a similar sense. 1
