Utba ibn Amir al-Juhani

عتبة بن عامر الجهني

Utba ibn Amir al-Juhani; after al-Fustat's fall Amr ibn al-As (may God be pleased with him) sent him to all lower Egypt's villages, whose people compounded on Fustat's terms — or, some say, it was his mawla Wardan, lord of Egypt's Suq Wardan.

Overview

Utba ibn Amir al-Juhani, whom Amr ibn al-As sent after the conquest of Fustat to the rest of the villages of the lower land, and he made peace with their people on the same terms as the people of Fustat 1. al-Baladhuri gives another report, that the one sent was his client Wardan, lord of the market of Wardan in Egypt 1.

He took part in the four commanders in the conquest of Egypt, in the role of "the one who sent to the villages of the lower land".
