Of Banu Sahm, he emigrated to Abyssinia. Ibn Ishaq describes him as the envoy of the Messenger of God to Khosrow 1.

Ibn Ishaq mentioned him among Banu Sahm, and described him as "the envoy of the Messenger of God to Khosrow" 1. The book does not give the details of his mission here. They are reviewed in the chapter on the Prophet's envoys to the kings (p.254-255, a later batch).

His humour in the expedition of Alqama
Ibn Hisham relates from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri that Alqama ibn Mujazziz appointed him over a group of his army, and "he had a sense of humour". He lit a fire, took an oath of hearing and obedience from the people, and then commanded them to leap into it. When they were about to, he said: "Sit down, I was only joking with you." When the Prophet heard of it, he said: "Whoever commands you to disobedience, do not obey him." See the expedition 2.
