Umm Sa'd bint Sa'd ibn al-Rabi'

Umm Sa'd bint Sa'd ibn al-Rabi' al-Ansariyya ¹. Ibn Sa'd said: her mother is Khallada bint Anas ibn Sinan of Banu Sa'ida; she bore her months after Sa'd was killed ¹.

Abu Dawud narrates from Dawud ibn al-Husayn, who said: I used to recite to Umm Sa'd bint Sa'd ibn al-Rabi' with her grandson Musa ibn Sa'd — she was an orphan in Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may God be pleased with him)'s care ¹.

Ibn Sa'd narrates from al-Waqidi that she said: Zayd ibn Thabit came in to me and said: "if you want to speak about your inheritance from your father, speak — for Umar has today granted the unborn child inheritance" — her father had been killed on the day of Uhud while she was yet unborn ¹.

Zayd ibn Thabit married her, and she bore him Kharija, Sa'd, Uthman, Sulayman and Umm Zayd ¹. Kharija ibn Zayd ibn Thabit related from her something of Sa'd ibn al-Rabi's virtues from Abu Bakr ¹.

Ibn Sa'd said in Kharija's entry: his mother is Umm Sa'd Jamila bint Sa'd ibn al-Rabi' — "so he said" — and Ibn Hajar points out that what is in Umm al-Ala''s entry contradicts this ¹.
