Safiyya bint Shayba ibn Uthman al-Abdariyya, daughter of Shayba ibn Uthman 1.
Is she a Companion?
Her companionship is disputed; Ibn Hajar says "far-fetched is the claim she had no sight of him" — her hadith is established in Sahih al-Bukhari in hanging form: Abban ibn Salih said, from al-Hasan ibn Muslim, from Safiyya bint Shayba (may God be pleased with her), who said: I heard the Prophet 1. Ibn Manda narrated from her: "by God, it is as if I see the Messenger of God when he entered the Ka'ba" 2.
Narration
She also related from A'isha, Umm Habiba and Umm Salama, the Prophet's wives, and from Asma' bint Abi Bakr, Umm Uthman bint Sufyan, and an umm walad of Shayba's 2. From her related her son Mansur ibn Safiyya, her nephew Abd al-Hamid ibn Jubayr ibn Shayba, al-Hasan ibn Muslim, Qatada, al-Mughira ibn Hakim, Maymun ibn Mihran and others 2.
On her reliability
Ibn Ma'in said Ibn Jurayj met her but did not hear from her; Ibn Hibban mentioned her among the reliable Successors 2.
