Overview
Nafi ibn al-Harith al-Thaqafi, also called Nafi ibn al-Harith ibn Kalada, a physician of the Arabs, whose kunya was Abu Abd Allah. He came to Basra with Utba ibn Ghazwan (may God be pleased with him) in the time of Umar. 1
The letter of al-Ubulla
His land and house
al-Baladhuri mentions that he was the first to train horses in Basra. He asked Umar for land on the bank of the Tigris that was not kharaj land, and Umar wrote to al-Mughira granting it to him, by a letter carried by Mu'ayqib ibn Abi Fatima in Safar of the year 17 AH. 1
His house was the first house built in Basra, on the north side of the mosque. His heirs refused to sell it, so Ubayd Allah ibn Ziyad demolished what he needed of it to square off the mosque. 1
