After his brother's death

Zayn al-Din died on 18 Ramadan 586 AH while the two of them were with Salah al-Din in the army. Imad al-Katib describes in al-Barq al-Shami that people came to offer Kokburi condolences, and found him busy securing what his brother had left. He arrested a group of his emirs. 2

Irbil

He asked Salah al-Din for Irbil in exchange for giving up Harran and Edessa, and Salah al-Din granted it to him, and added to it Shahrazur and its districts, Darbandh Qarababili and Bani Qafjaq. Ibn al-Athir says that it remained a grudge in the throat of the Atabeg house. 2
