Summary
At Badr
He went out with his brother Awf and Abdullah ibn Rawaha — their mother being Afra' — among the three Ansaris who stepped out first for the duels, whom the Qurashis turned back asking for equals of their own cousins 2. And when Mu'adh ibn Amr ibn al-Jamuh struck Abu Jahl's leg, Mu'awwidh passed by him hamstrung and struck him until he finished him — he left him with a last breath 3.
Mu'awwidh fought on until he was killed in that same battle; when the Prophet ﷺ ruled that both youths had killed Abu Jahl, Mu'adh alone was given his spoil because Mu'awwidh had been martyred 1 4.
