جهم بن زحر الجعفي

Jahm ibn Zahr al-Ju'fi, Yazid ibn al-Muhallab's champion; he retook breached Jurjan, then led the hide-ladder ascent of Wajah — 'if I am spared life, let me not be spared death' — killed the gate-keepers, raised the takbir behind the enemy at mid-afternoon, and drove the captives to Wadi Jurjan where they were slaughtered till the blood ran.

Overview

Jahm ibn Zahr al-Ju'fi, one of the men of Yazid ibn al-Muhallab. The sources in the museum's data say that he conquered Jurjan after it broke its covenant. Yazid then led him to the fortress of Wajah. He climbed to the citadel with leather ladders, fought those at its gate, and cried out "God is greatest" behind the enemy, and the fortress was taken. After the conquest he drove the captives to the valley of Jurjan, where they were killed. 1

He took part in Yazid's campaign on Jurjan. The details of the reports here need an additional source.
