Overview

Hilal ibn Uqqa ibn Qays ibn al-Bishr al-Namiri. Al-Baladhuri reports that he was in charge of the Namir under Ibn Saqit at Ayn al-Tamr, and he gathered men for Khalid and fought him (the siege of Ayn al-Tamr). Khalid overcame him, killed him and crucified him. 1

Al-Baladhuri, citing Ibn al-Kalbi, reports that the man in charge of them on that day was Uqqa ibn Qays ibn al-Bishr himself. His death is dated to 12 AH; the conversion to the Gregorian calendar is derived. 1
