Summary

Abu'l-Hasan 'Ali b. Abi Bakr b. 'Ali, Marwazi by origin, Mosuli by birth — the famous wayfarer resident at Aleppo; he roamed the lands and made countless visitations, nearly compassing the earth: no land or sea, no path or mountain that could be sought and seen but he saw it. 1

His mark

Wherever he reached, he wrote his hand upon its wall — Ibn Khallikan says: I have seen that in the many lands I myself visited; in Sicily he witnessed Etna's eruption and met Ibn Hajar. 1
