Summary
Malik transmits from Thawr ibn Zayd al-Dili, from Abu al-Ghayth Salim, client of Ibn Mutiyy, from Abu Hurayra (may God be pleased with him), that he said: we went out with the Messenger of God ﷺ in the year of Khaybar, and we did not win gold or silver, only goods, clothes and property. Rifa'a ibn Zayd gave the Messenger of God a black slave called Mid'am; he was sent to Wadi al-Qura; while Mid'am was unloading the Messenger of God's saddle, a stray arrow came and killed him. The people said: happiness for him, Paradise! The Messenger of God said: no, by Him in whose hand my soul is; the cloak he took on the day of Khaybar from the booty, which had not been divided, is burning on him with fire. When the people heard that, a man came with a thong or two, and said: a thong or two of fire. Ibn Abd al-Barr did not know it traced connected through any route. 1
