Chain of transmission
Summary
Malik transmits from Nafi from Abdullah ibn Umar that the Messenger of God ﷺ entered the Kaaba with Usama ibn Zayd (may God be pleased with him), Bilal ibn Rabah (may God be pleased with him) and Uthman ibn Talha (may God be pleased with him) the keeper of the key; he shut it on them and stayed inside. Ibn Umar says that when Bilal came out he asked him what the Messenger of God had done; he said: he made one pillar on his right, two on his left, and three behind him, and the House at that time was on six pillars; then he prayed. The editor notes Ibn Abd al-Barr's mention of the disagreement among Muwatta transmitters over the number of pillars. 1
