Chain of transmission
Summary
Malik transmits from Hisham ibn Urwa that Sawda bint Abdallah ibn Umar was with Urwa ibn al-Zubayr; she went out to circumambulate between al-Safa and al-Marwa on foot, during a pilgrimage or a lesser pilgrimage; she was a heavy woman, so she came when people had left after the night prayer, and did not finish her circumambulation until the first call to the dawn prayer, and finished it between it and it. Whenever Urwa saw them circumambulating on mounts he would forbid them most strongly, and they would plead illness out of shame toward him; he would say to us privately: these people have lost and failed. The editor notes that Abu Musab (1317), Suwayd (545) and Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Qasim in al-Nasai transmitted it from Malik. 1
