Malik transmits from Abdallah ibn Dinar that Abdullah ibn Umar wrote to Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan to pledge allegiance to him; and Abd al-Malik wrote back acknowledging his hearing and obedience according to the Sunna of God and His Messenger, as far as he is able. 1
