Summary
Malik transmits from Nafi, from Abdullah ibn Umar, that Umar ibn al-Khattab (may God be pleased with him) saw a silk garment being sold at the door of the mosque and said: Messenger of God, if you bought this garment and wore it on Friday and for the delegations when they come to you! The Messenger of God said: only the one who has no share in the Hereafter wears this. Later garments of it came, and he gave Umar one. Umar said: you clothed me in it, and you said what you said about the garment of Utarid? The Messenger of God said: I did not clothe you in it for you to wear it. Umar clothed a brother of his who was an unbeliever in Mecca with it. 1
