Summary

It reached Malik that the Messenger of God ﷺ entered the mosque and found Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may God be pleased with him) and Umar ibn al-Khattab (may God be pleased with him) there, and asked them. They said: hunger has driven us out. The Messenger of God said: hunger has driven me out too. They went to Abu al-Haytham ibn al-Tayhan al-Ansari, who ordered barley prepared for them, and got up to slaughter a sheep for them. The Messenger of God said: avoid the milk-giver. He slaughtered a sheep for them and brought them sweet water, hung on a palm tree. Then the food was brought to them, and they ate and drank. The Messenger of God said: you will be asked about the bounty of this day. 1
