Summary
A saying of Malik: whoever has gold ingots or gold or silver jewellery not used for wear owes zakat on it every year, weighed, taking a quarter of a tenth, unless it falls below the weight of twenty dinars in coin or two hundred dirhams, in which case there is no zakat on it. Zakat applies only when he keeps it for purposes other than wear; as for broken ingots or jewellery which its owners want to repair and wear, it is like goods kept by their owners, on which there is no zakat. The editor notes that Abu Musab transmitted it from Malik. 1
