Summary
Malik related from Ibn Shihab, from Ubayd Allah ibn Abdallah ibn Utba, from Abu Hurayra (may God be pleased with him) and Zayd ibn Khalid al-Juhani (may God be pleased with him), that the Prophet ﷺ was asked about a slave-girl who committed adultery and was not married. He said: if she commits adultery, flog her; if she commits adultery again, flog her; then sell her even for a rope. Ibn Shihab said: I do not know whether it was after the third or the fourth. Yahya said: I heard Malik say: the dafir is the rope. 1
