Summary
Malik transmits from Nafi, from Abdullah ibn Umar, that Aisha wanted to buy a slave-girl to free her, but her people stipulated that the clientage should be theirs. She told the Prophet ﷺ, who said: that should not stop you, for clientage belongs to the one who frees. 1
