Summary
Yahya said Malik said, from Dawud ibn al-Husayn, that he heard Abu Ghatafan ibn Tarif al-Murri say: Zayd ibn Thabit (may God be pleased with him) and Ibn Mati dispute over a house between them before Marwan ibn al-Hakam, governor of Medina. Marwan ruled that Zayd should swear on the pulpit. Zayd said: let him swear in my place. Marwan said: no, by God, except at the places where rights are cut off. Zayd kept swearing that his right was true, and refused to swear on the pulpit, and Marwan ibn al-Hakam kept wondering at that. The editor notes the wording and the report's transmission. 1
