Summary
Malik says of a man who buys land and improves it by planting roots he puts in it, or digs a well, and then a man comes and establishes a right in it and wants to take it by pre-emption. He has no pre-emption in it unless he gives the value of what was improved. If he gives the value of what was improved, he has the better right to pre-emption; otherwise he has no right in it. 1
