Summary
Yahya transmits from Malik, from Ibn Shihab, from Said ibn al-Musayyab and from Abu Salama ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf (may God be pleased with him), that the Messenger ruled pre-emption (shufa) in what was not divided among partners; when boundaries have been set between them, there is no pre-emption in it. The editor notes that most narrators of the Muwatta transmitted it as mursal, while a number of Malik's companions transmitted it connected from Abu Hurayra (may God be pleased with him). 1
