Chain of transmission
Summary
Malik transmits from Nafi, from Abdullah ibn Umar, that he said: Umar ibn al-Khattab (may God be pleased with him) was prayed over in the mosque. The editor notes that Abu Musab, Abd al-Aziz ibn Muhammad (in al-Tahawi), al-Shafii in the Musnad and al-Shaybani transmitted it from Malik, and that al-Tirmidhi quoted al-Shafii after the report: Malik said the dead person is not prayed over in the mosque; see the positions on this in al-Tamhid (21/219). 1
