Summary

Malik says: profit-sharing is only valid in gold or silver coin, and is not valid in goods. Among sales there are those that are not permitted when their matter is uncertain and their risk is great. As for riba, there is only the return of it, always, and nothing of it is permitted, neither little nor much, and what is permitted in other things is not permitted in it. Malik cites the verse in al-Baqara that the capital owner is due his capital only, without excess. 1
