Summary
Malik was asked about a man who buys fresh dates from the owner of an orchard, and advances him a dinar on them; what is due to him if the fresh dates of that orchard are gone? Malik said: the owner of the orchard reckons with him, and then the buyer takes from him what remains of the dinar. If he took fresh dates worth two-thirds of a dinar, he takes the third of the dinar still due to him. If he took fresh dates worth three-quarters of a dinar, he takes the quarter that remains to him, or they agree between them. 1
