Summary
Malik transmits from Nafi and from Zayd ibn Aslam, from Sulayman ibn Yasar, that al-Ahwas died in Syria when his wife entered blood in the third menstrual period, after he had divorced her. Muawiya ibn Abi Sufyan wrote to Zayd ibn Thabit (may God be pleased with him) asking about it. Zayd wrote back that once she enters blood in the third period she has separated from him and he from her, and she does not inherit from him nor he from her. 1
