Summary

A saying transmitted by Yahya: Malik was asked about a woman who recited a prostration while a man was with her and listening, whether he must prostrate with her. Malik said he need not. The prostration is due only to the people who are with the man and follow him as their imam: he recites a prostration and they prostrate with him. Whoever merely hears a prostration from a person reciting it, who is not his imam, need not prostrate that prostration. The editor notes that Abu Mus'ab and Suwayd transmitted it, with slight differences in wording between copies. 1
