Chain of transmission

  1. Malik ibn Anas
  2. Nafi' al-Madani
  3. Abdullah ibn Umar ibn al-Khattab

Summary

The first report in the chapter on voluntary prayer on a journey, by day and by night, and praying on a mount. Yahya transmits from Malik from Nafi' from Abdullah ibn Umar: on a journey he did not pray any voluntary prayer before or after the obligatory prayer, except in the last part of the night, when he prayed on the ground and on his mount wherever it faced. The editor notes that the word "and the night" in the chapter heading is from Ibn Wahdah's version from Yahya, not in Ubayd Allah's from his father. Abu Mus'ab, Suwayd, Muhammad ibn al-Hasan and Yahya ibn Bukayr transmitted it. 1
