Summary
A report of Malik through Zayd ibn Aslam giving the interpretation of the ablution verse in Surat al-Ma'ida, which orders washing the faces and hands, wiping the heads and feet when one rises for prayer: the "rising" means rising from bed, that is, from sleep. The editor notes that Abu Mus'ab, Suwayd and Ibn Wahb transmitted it from Malik, in al-Tabari's commentary, and that Muhammad ibn al-Hasan did too. 1
