Creed

Overview

A short treatise on the creed of the People of the Sunna according to the way of the early Muslims, written by Muwaffaq al-Din Ibn Qudama al-Maqdisi, the Hanbali. 1

How the treatise is built

It begins with the attributes of God, His speech, and the vision of God by believers. It then passes to predestination and faith; to belief in what the Prophet reported of the Night Journey and the Ascension, the signs of the Hour, the grave, the resurrection, the Basin, the Bridge and intercession. 1

It then mentions the seal of prophethood in Muhammad, the order of the caliphs, the ten promised Paradise, excommunication, obedience to rulers, love of the Companions, and it ends with shunning the people of innovation. 1
