Summary

A sermon attributed to the sage Aktham ibn Sayfi: when the Prophet appeared in Mecca and called people to Islam, Aktham sent his son Habib to inquire, and addressed his people on his return. 1

Details

As Safwat's Jamhara transmits it, Aktham sent his son Habib to meet the Prophet and report back; in the sermon he says: "My son met this man face to face and brought me his report; his book commands right and forbids wrong, takes up noble character, calls to the oneness of God, the casting off of idols and abandoning oaths by the fire, and those of judgment among you know that merit lies in what he calls to." 1

The sermon opens with Aktham asking his people to accept good counsel from him and correct whatever falls short, placing it among the reports of the Arab sages at the dawn of the call as the compiler arranged the pre-Islamic and early-Islamic chapters. 1
