Overview
Isfahan is a great region in the mountains. According to al-Baladhuri, Abd Allah ibn Budayl conquered its land in 23 and 24 AH. He took Jay by a peace agreement after a duel with its marzban Fadusfan, made peace with the Jews, and prevailed over its plain and its mountain. He dealt with them over the tax in about the way he dealt with the people of Ahwaz. Its notables submitted to the tax and refused the poll tax, so they became Muslims. 1
