Overview

Ayn al-Tamr: a place in Iraq, whose reports are found in two sources.

In Ibn Ishaq

Umayr ibn Ri'ab al-Sahmi was killed there with Khalid ibn al-Walid, on his return from al-Yamama in the caliphate of Abu Bakr. 1

In al-Baladhuri

It is a fortress with a great garrison of the Persians. Khalid besieged it until its people asked for safe-conduct, but he refused, and he conquered it by force. He took captive a group from its church, among them the fathers and clients of Ibn Sirin, Ibn Ishaq, Musa ibn Nusayr and the family of Abu Farwa. Bashir ibn Sa'd al-Ansari and Umayr ibn Ri'ab were buried in it. 2
