    Summary

Walid Ismail Muhammad Ismail (born 1975) — kunya Abu Aisha, nicknamed Al-Dafi' ("the Defender") — is an Egyptian Salafi preacher born in al-Hanoville, in Alexandria's al-Ajami district, a graduate of the Preachers' Preparation Institute, known for televised and livestreamed debates in defence of the Companions and the Prophet's household. 1 He is a member and spokesman of the Islamic Current Coalition for the Defense of the Companions and Ahl al-Bayt, and his official YouTube channel (@waleedismail1) carries his debates and broadcasts. 1 2 The English Wikipedia article "Walid Ismail" is a different man, a Lebanese footballer, and was not used. 1

    Career

Ismail was raised in Alexandria and trained at the Preachers' Preparation Institute, then rose to prominence in televised religious debates and in livestreams on social platforms, specialising in answering Shia interlocutors on questions of the Companions and the Prophet's household. 1 He joined the Islamic Current Coalition for the Defense of the Companions and Ahl al-Bayt and became its spokesman; the article, quoting Al-Watan newspaper, reports that the coalition launched the "Fatima" channel. 1 His official channel streams his debates and lessons live, and its description links his own support and contact accounts. 2

    Works

His output is the debate and the broadcast rather than the printed book; his official channel collects his debates and reply series, and the Arabic article cites clips from the channel when documenting his 2025 statements. 1 2

    Views and criticism

This section reports what the sources attribute to him and the opposing side, and the museum adopts no verdict. The Arabic article describes Ismail as a Salafi preacher known for confronting Shia missionaries in debate, and carries his positions in defence of the Companions and the Prophet's household in his own words and those of his coalition. 1 His debate opponents answer from the opposing view; the single article available does not present both sides in depth, so the museum records the activity and the coalition affiliation as given. 1

the Alexandria rising and its recovery (25 AH)

Alexandria broke its treaty: Constantinople shipped a large army under the eunuch Manuel, and the Romans inside the city joined them — though the Muqawqis kept his pact. 'Amr ibn al-'As marched, routed them, followed them into the streets and killed a great multitude including Manuel; he restored to the villagers who had not rebelled their confiscated property upon proof, and demolished Alexandria's walls, leaving her wall-less.
