Overview
A Companion and poet of Banu Ya'mur. Ibn Ishaq mentions him in two places in the fourth volume. At Mu'ta he composed verses apologising for what happened that day and praising Khalid ibn al-Walid 1. In the second raid of Zayd ibn Haritha on Banu Fazara, Mas'ada ibn Hakama was killed, and the poet composed verses about it. Zayd ordered Umm Qirfa killed, and she was killed 2 3.
Notes on the report
- The name of his father is given as "al-Musahhar" in the edition, and in some manuscripts otherwise, as the editors point out. 3
- His verses on the killing of Mas'ada are rendered by meaning, not by text.
