Overview
Ma'n ibn Za'ida al-Shaybani, whom al-Mansur appointed over Sistan. 1
In Sistan
Rutbil demanded the tribute of al-Hajjaj, and Ma'n sent him camels, Turkish tents and slaves, doubled. Ma'n became angry, and went to al-Rukhkh, conquered Zabulistan and took about thirty thousand captives. In the report of Faraj al-Rukhkhi, he put the sword to the captives after he thought the dust of a herd of wild asses was an army. Then he feared the winter and withdrew to Bust. 1
His death
Al-Hashimiyya
Al-Mas'udi says that he was in hiding until the day of al-Hashimiyya, when he came veiled. When the people of Khurasan rose against al-Mansur, he struck them with the sword in defence of him. Then he uncovered his face and identified himself, and al-Mansur granted him safety and honoured him. 3
