Overview
Al-Harith al-Kindi
Khosrow sought al-Harith ibn Amr al-Kindi, whom Kavad had appointed over al-Hira, but he escaped to the lands of the Banu Kalb and remained among them until he died. 1
What is not stated here
The reports of al-Tabari about his reign are not given in this entry, and the Ar-Raheeq does not name the other king who imprisoned al-Nu'man ibn al-Mundhir.
For young visitors
Anushirvan was a king of Persia known to the Arabs for justice. He killed Mazdak and restored the king of al-Hira to his place.
Name
In Arabic the name Anushirwan is the form of the surname of Chosroes I, from a Persian word meaning 'possessed of an immortal soul', later read as Nushirvan, 'possessed of a sweet soul'. Several Muslims bore it, among them a son of Manuchihr and of a daughter of Mahmud of Ghazni, who was amir of Jurjan from 420/1029 to 434/1042. 3
