Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Abd al-Malik ibn Zuhr al-Iyadi, known as Ibn Zuhr al-Hafid, one of the outstanding figures of medicine and letters in al-Andalus. 2
Life
He was born in Seville, served the states of the Almoravids and the Almohads, and died in Marrakesh. 2
Medicine and letters
Al-Zirikli says that in his time no one knew the craft of medicine better than he did, and he took it from his father. He wrote al-Tiryaq (The Antidote) on medicine, and delicate poetry, and muwashshahat that he composed with skill. 2
