Overview

Hammad ibn Abi Sulayman ibn Muslim of Kufa, client of the Ash'ari family, originally from Isfahan; he narrated from Anas ibn Malik (may God be pleased with him) and took fiqh from Ibrahim al-Nakha'i, being his noblest, most juridical and sharpest pupil in disputation and ra'y — and it is to him that Abu Hanifa traces his fiqh. He died in 119 AH. 1
