بختيار عز الدولة بن معز الدولة

Ahmad ibn Buyah, son of Mu'izz al-Dawla. He was set up in his father's place in the sultanate when the latter died in 356 AH, and the caliph al-Muti' titled him "Izz al-Dawla". ¹

Ibn al-Athir says that his father bequeathed the affair to him at his death, and he sat in the amirate, and forbade people to speak; then he satisfied them and showed justice, so they grew calm. ²

In 362 AH al-Muti' confiscated his property. Al-Muti' said he had nothing but the khutba, then pressed him until he sold his stuff and brought four hundred thousand dirhams. ¹

Ibn al-Athir says that he broke his pact with Adud al-Dawla and marched on Mosul, and they met at Qasr al-Hasa near Tikrit in Shawwal 367 AH. He was defeated and captured, and Adud al-Dawla ordered him killed; he was thirty-one years old. ³
