Overview
Al-Mu'azzam Turanshah the Elder, senior of the Ayyubid house — the sultan revered him and behaved deferentially toward him; he heard from Yahya al-Thaqafi and Ibn Sadqa al-Harrani and 'Abdallah b. Buri licensed him; he surrendered Aleppo's citadel for safe-conduct when unable to hold it, and death overtook him soon after — he died in Rabi' I at eighty. 1
