    Overview

Al-Malik al-Sa'id Hasan, lord of al-Subayba and Banias; he ruled from 631 after his brother al-Malik al-Zahir until the mid-640s, when al-Malik al-Salih took Subayba from him and gave him an emirate in Egypt; when al-Mu'azzam son of al-Salih was killed he marched on Gaza, seized what was in it, and retook Subayba. 1

    Between Hulagu and Qutuz

When al-Malik al-Nasir took Damascus he seized and jailed him at al-Bira; when Hulagu took al-Bira he was brought to him still in chains — released, given a robe of honour and restored to Subayba, remaining in Kitbugha's service at Damascus. A brave champion, he fought on the day of Ayn Jalut on the Tatar side; when the Tatars were routed he was brought before al-Malik al-Muzaffar, who struck off his head. 1
