Overview

Al-Harith ibn Abi Dirar Abu Malik al-Khuza'i, then al-Mustaliqi, father of Juwayriya, the Mother of the Believers. 1

Ransoming his daughter and his Islam

Ibn Ishaq relates in the Maghazi that he came to Medina with the ransom of his daughter after she had been taken captive, and that the Prophet married her. When he was at al-Aqiq, he wanted two camels and hid them in a ravine. Then he came with the ransom, and the Prophet said: "Where are the two camels you hid at al-Aqiq?" Al-Harith said: "I testify that there is no god but God and that you are the Messenger of God; by God, no one knew of that but God." He embraced Islam, and two of his sons and some of his people embraced Islam with him. 1 See the raid on the Banu al-Mustaliq. Ibn Abi Asim gives this report without a continuous chain. 1

The report of al-Walid ibn Uqba

Ahmad, al-Tabarani and others relate through Isa ibn Dinar, the muezzin, from his father, that he heard al-Harith say that he came to the Prophet, who called him to Islam, and he entered it. He then related a long hadith that includes the story of al-Walid ibn Uqba, when he came as a collector and the verse about verifying a report from a wicked person was revealed about it in the Surat al-Hujurat. 1 That is the verse 49:6.

The raid on Banu al-Mustaliq

The march of the Prophet from Medina in Sha'ban 6 AH to the watering-place of al-Muraysi' near Qudayd, where the raid took place, and the return to Medina; the book names only these two stops and does not give the halts between them.
