Overview

Abu Ahmad al-Husayn ibn Musa al-Musawi, the marshal of the Talibiyyun in Baghdad and father of al-Sharif al-Radi. 1

Ibn al-Athir relates that the caliph al-Qadir billah learned of verses composed by his son concerning the lineage of the Egyptian Mahdi, so he summoned the judge Ibn al-Baqillani to compel him to recant. The father denied knowing the poetry, and the son refused to write what was demanded of him. 1

The son is said to have said that he feared the near more than the far; his father rebuked him in reply. This is from Ibn al-Athir's account. 1
