Overview
A mosque in Qati'at Umm Ja'far on the west side of Baghdad. The sharif Abu Ahmad al-Musawi restored it and made it a congregational mosque with the permission of al-Ta'i li-llah in 379 AH. 1
The place and a reported dream
People that year told of a woman from the east bank who saw in a dream that she would die the next afternoon, and that in Qati'at Umm Ja'far there was a mosque with a hand-print set in the qibla wall. On waking she went to the place, found the mark of the hand, and died at that hour. 1
Made a congregational mosque
Abu Ahmad al-Musawi restored and enlarged the mosque and built it up. He asked al-Ta'i's leave to make it a jami where Friday prayer would be held, arguing that it lay beyond a ditch that cut it off from the city and so formed another settlement; permission was given and Friday prayer was held there. 2
