Overview

Abdallah ibn Abdallah ibn Umar ibn al-Khattab (may God be pleased with him) al-Qurashi al-Adawi; Ibn Abi Hashim counted him among the Companions. Yazid ibn Harun said he was Ibn Umar's eldest son; al-Zubayr records that Ibn Umar appointed him his executor, and that he was among the leading men and notables of Quraysh. 1

His companionship and transmission

Ibn Abi Hashim transmitted with a sound chain from him the story of his hearing the Prophet ﷺ rebuke the people at Arafa at dusk — "righteousness is not in driving mounts hard" — while noting that he was only born after the Prophet's death, so he had neither companionship nor sight of him; his report from his father tells the story as if heard. He also transmitted from his father, Umar, Uthman, Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf (may God be pleased with him), A'isha and others; Asim ibn Ubaydallah, al-Zuhri, Yahya ibn Sa'id, Abdallah ibn Abi Bakr ibn Hazm, Muhammad ibn Yazid ibn al-Muhajir and others transmitted from him. 1

His death

Al-Haytham ibn Adi said he died in eighty-something AH; others said in five or nine. 1
