Summary
Yahya said: I heard Malik say that the meaning of the Messenger of God ﷺ's words: whoever vows to disobey God, let him not disobey Him, is that a man vows to walk to Syria, to Egypt, to al-Rabadha, or the like, which is not an obedience to God, if he speaks to so-and-so or the like. There is nothing owed by him in any of that if he speaks to him or breaks what he swore, since in these things there is no obedience to God; what is fulfilled to God is only what contains obedience to Him. 1
