«نهى رَسولُ اللهِ الَّذِينَ قَتَلُوا ابن أبي الْحُقَيْقِ عَن قَتْلِ النِّسَاءِ وَالْوِلْدَانِ»
A verbatim excerpt of the text, forty words at most; the full text is in the edition cited under sources
Summary
Malik transmits from Ibn Shihab, from a son of Kab ibn Malik, whom Malik supposes to be Abd al-Rahman ibn Kab, that the Messenger of God ﷺ forbade those who killed Ibn Abi al-Huqayq to kill women and children. One of them used to say that the wife of Ibn Abi al-Huqayq had harassed them with shouting, so he would raise the sword against her, then remember the Prophet's prohibition and hold back; otherwise they would have been rid of her. The editor notes that Malik's transmission is relayed, and that Ibn Abd al-Barr mentioned disagreement among transmitters about the name of the narrator from al-Zuhri. 1
